Everything You Need to Sell Popcorn

Why does our Pack sell popcorn?
Popcorn is a great fundraiser; here are a few facts about why we are selling popcorn.
  • 70% goes back into scouting.
  • Our Pack receives 37% commission for our activities, outings and awards.
  • The average person will spend $15.00 on popcorn to support Scouting.
  • People are supporting Scouting, not just buying Popcorn.
  • "Scouts earning their own way" is important to consumers.
  • If approached by a Scout 70% will buy to support Scouting. 82% have never been asked to buy popcorn.

Our goal, to support all our Pack 14 adventures for the year, is to average $550 per scout!

So set a goal, go out there and do your best!

If you don’t know where to start, ask your mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, grandma, grandpa, cousin, … you get the idea.

Remember that we have 4 ways to sell popcorn.

  1. Door to Door take orders on your order forms with your parent or another scout.
  2. Show and Sell at Kroger and other locations with your parent and other scouts.
  3. Show and Deliver with a selection of popcorn in hand.
  4. Online

If you sell $600 you get to make a pie and throw it at the popcorn kernel’s face! And if everyone in the pack sells you get to throw a pie in the Cub Master’s face too!!!!

The council also has two incentive prizes. If you sell $450 worth of popcorn between September 16th and October 2nd you get a head lamp. If you sell $750 in that period you get 1 free ticket to a Nashville Predators game against the Dallas Stars on January 12, 2017.

Some tips for door to door sales:

  • Practice your presentation
  • Wear your uniform
  • Use a clipboard
  • Take 2 pens
  • Collect the money at the order
  • Tell the donor that you will deliver the popcorn before Thanksgiving

Here is something that you can say:

Hi, my name is ___________, and I am a Cub Scout with Pack 14. I'm selling popcorn to raise money for the things I like to do in Scouting. The popcorn is delicious and there are many different kinds to choose from. Would you like to support me? (Always say "Thank You" when you are done)
